Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient, well proven method of encouraging the body to promote natural healing and improve functioning. This is accomplished by using fine needles inserted at precise acupuncture points to release obstructions to the flow of energy through the body.  The improved energy flow helps to nourish the various organs and correct imbalances, stimulating the body's natural healing abilities and promoting physical and emotional well-being.  Medical acupuncture simply refers to acupuncture performed by a physician also trained in conventional medicine.

Acupuncture is used to promote health, well-being, prevention of illness and to treat various disorders.  The World Health Organization recognizes acupuncture in the treatment of a wide range of medical problems including:
  • Digestive disorders, gastritis, hyperacidity, spastic colon, constipation, diarrhea
  • Respiratory disorders, sinusitis, sore throat, bronchitis, asthma, recurrent chest infections
  • Neurological and muscular disorders, headaches, facial tics and pain, neck pain, rib neuritis, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, various forms of tendonitis, low back pain, sciatica, osteoarthritis.
  • Urinary, menstrual, and reproductive problems.

Acupuncture is particularly useful in resolving physical problems related to tension and stress and emotional conditions.

I am board certified by the American Board of Medical Acupuncture (www.medicalacupuncture.org).  I have been incorporating acupuncture into my medical practice for over 15 years and have found it to be very useful in many difficult cases.
